School Vision Screening — Borama

A complete, low-cost school vision screening package designed for teachers and community health workers. Includes screening forms, referral cards and an A3 poster to raise awareness.

Objectives

  • Rapidly screen large numbers of schoolchildren for refractive error and common vision problems.
  • Provide simple referral pathways to local eye clinics.
  • Increase teacher awareness on when to refer children for specialist care.

How to use

  1. Print one screening checklist per classroom and one referral card per child who fails screening.
  2. Train teachers for 30–60 minutes using the provided script.
  3. Run screening in a quiet corner of the classroom; use natural light and the simple chart provided.
  4. Refer children with suspected issues to the nearest clinic and track outcomes.
